This educational project is geared toward cholesterol education in the cystic fibrosis population. By way of definition, this is a genetic disease believed to affect about 100,000 people globally. Among the most common manifestations include frequent pulmonary infections, inflammation, pancreatic insufficiency, and male infertility (Shteinberg et al., 2021). This is important to this population for a number of reasons, including a steadily increasing life expectancy (McBennett et al., 2022). A review conducted by Massey et al., (2023), found that educational interventions especially when accompanied by resources for further information, caused increased adherence to hypercholesterolemia treatment regimens. The guiding question for this project is does cholesterol education improve cholesterol knowledge in adults diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis disease and on modulator therapy medications? The process be structured in the format of an initial questionnaire, an educational intervention and a post intervention questionnaire. Participants will receive the educational tool electronically. This tool will contain information obtained from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Heart Association (AHA). The educational information provided will include risks of hypercholesterolemia, measures for prevention, recommended routine testing, and treatment. This information will also contain links for additional resources and further information, that participants can access in the future. The post questionnaire will then be taken and will be assessed for an increase in score when compared to the initial questionnaire.
